Albania Ruiz
is a co-director of Bronx Community Charter School. She has been an educator in public schools in the Bronx for over 10 years. Prior to joining the BxC community, Alby worked at a South Bronx public school, where she found her love for literacy and special education. Alby developed her ability to lead and support teachers in her work as the ELA department chair. She brought all of her experience to BxC, and pursued and completed a Masters degree in Educational Leadership at Bank Street. In 2016, Alby became a founding member of the BxC 7th grade team and moved up to teach Humanities in 8th grade. Over the course of her years at BxC, Alby has developed strong relationships with students, families, and staff members. Those experiences and relationships have helped her to transition into a leadership role at BxC. Her work as a co-director is fulfilling, and she is proud to serve a diverse community with a clear focus on social justice.
